No. We are a mission driven for-profit firm. ALJP Consulting was founded in the Summer of 2019 to fill a need in the arts and culture sector for consulting firms dedicated to creating an ecosystem that looks like the world in which we live.  We put inclusion and equity at the heart of our consulting practice.

Yes. Our prices are consistent with the market rate for search and planning services. Fees are based on the size of each organization's operating budget. We also offer pro bono and reduced rate services to a limited number of culturally specific companies and organizations focused on traditionally marginalized communities. 

We usually lead searches for executive or senior staff level positions. We have successfully placed awesome candidates in a wide variety of positions including:

Our firm is incorporated in Illinois, but serves organizations nationwide. We are a fully remote company with consultants, associates, advisors and staff based across the United States in cities like Chicago, New York City and Boston.  We work with clients in a hybrid way, including virtual meetings and in person site visits. #thefutureisremote

• PERSONALIZE YOUR MATERIALS: Tailoring your resume and cover letter to the job description will often be the difference between getting that first interview and being overlooked by a recruiter or search committee. We know it can be a drag when you're applying for multiple jobs, but it really is worth it to personalize your materials!

• BE PATIENT: Please be patient with recruiters and search committees. We work against a sense of urgency with our clients and our process is inclusive of a variety of stakeholders, sometimes causing delays in our planned timeline. These are major decisions for the organizations we work with, and they want to choose carefully. We will contact everyone who applies for a position via our firm, but please be patient with updates. 

• GET ONLINE: Create an online presence. We live in the tech age of Google! It is helpful to have an online presence for people to reference. There are low cost and free DIY platforms like LinkedIn and Wix.com that offer a space to showcase yourself and your work on the web. 

• RESEARCH AND PREPARE: Prepare lots of questions. Do your research on the organization you are applying to. If you can see a performance, visit a gallery or attend a concert at the organization, you should do so to learn more about their programming. Arrive at your interviews with 10-15 specific questions for interviewers and search committees. 

• SUBMIT YOU INFO: Add your materials to our candidate database. Let us know what types of roles you are interested in, your short and long term career goals and whether you'd be willing to relocate for a position. We will keep you in mind for future opportunities.
